Georgia Manousogiannaki

Georgia Manousogiannaki is a researcher, architect working on educational participatory projects in Athens. She studied architecture in Technical University of Crete (TUC) and holds an Ms. in International Cooperation in Sustainable Emergency Architecture from the International University of Catalonia (UIC). After completing her studies she participated in natural building workshops in Greece and abroad, practicing different techniques. Since 2016 she has been a scientific associate at the Transformable Intelligent Environments Laboratory, with a focus on the fields of Architecture-Education-Technology. At this point she is working as a social architect improving the schools’ environments, within the framework of the ‘Designed for Better Learning’ program supported by the Municipality of the city of Athens, implemented by TUC Tie Laboratory. She develops the methodology of “Educational Pla(y)ces” along with a multidisciplinary team that upgrades the quality of public schools’ environments, through the empowerment of teachers and the engagement of students. Also, she is a member of the team Urbana and she is cooperating in projects of participatory and inclusive urban design.

PROJECT
Georgia in collaboration with Irini Vallindra will implement the Rock the Cave workshop for primary school children and their parents. As part of the workshop, the team will utilize the natural materials and knitting techniques of the island to create an ephemeral organic-shaped nest that will be built on-site at Kakia Skala.
